The BRIC Countries Are The Future Leaders
Economy

Brazil,Russia,IndiaandChina(called theBRIC countries) are rapidly assuming position
to be the next generation ofworld leaders. Of the four, it is the author´s
opinion that Brazil will be the leader of the pack. The reasons for this are many
and include self-sufficiency in energy, large undeveloped land masses for food production,
many raw materials to supply the world, and a rapidly developing infrastructure
to support exportation and industrialization.
Russia will fail to assume leadership because of the weather andpolitical repression.
While the land mass of Russia is gigantic (7 time zones), most of it is in the far
north and not suitable for food production. The political policy of Russia is still
repressive and unable to shed the ideas of theSoviet Unionera. Russia is self-sufficient
in energy which is a big plus and will remain an exporting nation of fuel andnatural
gasbut the lack of a good climate for most of the country will be inhibiting.
China seems to be in position to assume world leadership but many factors will prevent
this from happening. Industrialization is occurring at a tremendous rate but cannot
continue at this rate. Lack of raw materials is China´s number one problem.
Coal is abundant for anenergy sourcebut the pollution caused but this is overpowering
and will cause many insurmountable problems. Most commodities are imported causing
a large imbalance in trade. Land is mountainous restricting food production and
many food products have to be imported. Population andpopulation growthis a negative
factor also.
India is an overwhelming poor nation with a small English speaking middle class
that is pushing it to the forefront in technology. A nation of high technology won´t
propel itself to the forefront of world leadership.Like China, it israw materialpoor,
petroleum importing, overpopulated and not enough land mass to produce sufficient
food for the masses.
Brazil has it all!Abundant raw materials, massive land area for food production,
a relatively small population for the land area, energy self-sufficient in petroleum
and ethanol and soon will be an exporting nation of both. Incredible discoveries
of off-shore petroleum has placed Brazil in 3th place in world reserves. Enough
land area forsugar canegrowing for ethanol production for automobile fuel to supply
the entire world. A growing internal economy because of a rising standard of living
is making Brazil a consuming nation. There are certainly problems that must be corrected
in the future like education and health care but they will improve as the country
grows and takes it place in the world structure.
I think that it is a safe bet to assume that Brazil will indeed be in the higher
portion of the world hierarchy of the future and it would not surprise me if in
the next decades it will be on top.
